Yogatherapy/Gentle Yoga- To be truely healthy we need to be healthy on all levels. Yoga therapy will focus on ways to heal ourselves on all levels: physical, energetic, mental, emotional, spiritual. When we bring balance back into our lives we may soar to higher levels of bliss. Yoga can help heal some things, but it can also support you while you use other healing methods.
Restorative w/Patrice- Relieve your stress with the classic style of Indra Devi Hatha yoga. This is a gentle, straightforward, and effective style. You will explore various asanas (poses), breathing techniques, and meditation practices that aid in relieving stress. All levels welcome.
Hatha Yoga- As you progress with hatha yoga, you will gain greater flexibility in your body and mind. Like any form of exercise, hatha yoga helps develop physical strength. Hatha yoga adds another dimension to this with a matching development in emotional strength that will help you handle the challenges of life with a balanced disposition.
Power Yoga-This is yoga for those who like to sweat! Not for the faint of heart (or body), Power Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga are very similar - both base their practices on performing Vinyasas, or a series of yoga poses which are strung together, one right after the other. It's a challenging blend of flexibility, strength and endurance. Want to explore your inner athlete? Then this style of yoga is for you.
Guided Relaxation- This guided relaxation will allow our bodies to shed stress and will bring us back to feeling restored and relaxed. This is a spiritual based class with inner work. The focus and theme will change bi-monthly based on what is needed emotionally. This class is directed and guided from the heart. You will enjoy a better nights sleep as well!
Svaroopa- A gentle form of yoga involving the practice of traditional yoga postures (asana), breathing techniques (pranayama) and relaxation to open the muscles around the spine, promoting total body relaxation and freer movement. Unlike other forms of yoga, the focus of svaroopa yoga is to unspiral tension within the spine and create lasting spinal opening. Particularly effective in relieving chronic stress or muscle and joint pain, practicing svaroopa yoga leaves the body feeling stronger and more flexible and the mind feeling rejuvenated.
Yin Yoga- To describe fully what Yin yoga is, we need to define Yang yoga! Yang yoga is the style of yoga which we are most familiar with; asanas which lengthen and contract our muscles (yang tissues). Yin yoga focuses on yin tissues; the connective tissues of primarily the hips, pelvis and lower spine. Yin Yoga is a perfect balance to Yang Yoga styles and is suitable for most students. It is a deep, meditative and passive style of yoga. We aim to relax the muscles fully so we can target the deeper lying connective layers, holding the poses for longer than is normal in Yang Yoga styles. Some Yin students find that their bodies feel more open and can move deeper into Yang yoga poses after Yin practice.
Intro to Ashtanga- This method of Yoga involves synchronizing the breath with progressive series of postures. This produces an intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a strong body, and a calm mind. You will begin by learning the basic movements of the sun salutation and then progress through some the remaining postures of the primary series.
A class that reinforces flexibility and strength, combining the best of Yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates. Truly a fitness class for the 21st Century, BODYFLOW brings mind and body into perfect harmony. Try this revolutionary, holistic approach to fitness.
